On June 26, 2020, I was able to conduct an online webinar to share mindfulness tips to middle and high school students! I thought this webinar would be helpful to students, especially as they transition into an online school format for the coming year. These tips were given in a way, where I shared my experience in high school and explained how they helped me manage my stress. However, many adults also shared interest in this webinar as they wanted tips with stress management at home, as there many more different stressors in light of the situation. During the presentation, I made sure to keep the content understandable and relatable for youth and adults but also encourage all to discuss, even the adults.
In this personalized presentation, I focused on:
- What is Stress
-
- Stressors
-
- Why We Feel Stressed
-
- Parasympathetic vs. Sympathetic Nervous System
- Stress Hormones
-
- What is Mindfulness
-
- "Getting happy" hormones and neurotransmitters
-
- How to Use Mindfulness
-
- Yoga Approach
- Lifestyle Modifications and Tips
-
Overall, I received great feedback from the participants. Although a webinar at first, we discussed and added our own experiences with stress. I also found it amazing that some experiences of the students matched with the adults, and we could find common ground!
